Patsy is 13 and recently diagnosed with a Grade III Systolic Heart Murmur. She is in Congestive Heart Failure that is successfully managed with medication at this point.
She is symptomatic with a frequent cough and shortness of breath. She tires easily with activity. She does have bouts of energy, usually at mealtime, but otherwise is quite sedate.
She has some difficulty getting up and around and managing the hardwood floors. I've bought her some non-slip socks that work amazingly well on slick surfaces. I just put them on her back feet and she lets me.
With the addition of the diuretic we have begun laying papers down on the floor of the garage that she can use if she needs to pee and no one is around fast enough. It works great for all of us.
She is on a therapeutic dose of fish oil daily along with Hyaluronic Acid and Glucosamine and Chondroitin for arthritis. She takes an herbal supplement for pain.
Her skin issues cleared up with the change to a raw whole prey model diet when she first came to live with me a few months ago.
She has recently started to act a little wacky at times and I am sure it's early onset dementia.
She has a number of comfortable sleeping spots to choose from and is a happy girl because of it :-)
Patsy will live here until she dies. We love her and she is such a good girl.
